3D Browser Games — Free, No Download or Install

Real 3D worlds rendered by WebGL and running in an ordinary browser tab. Nothing to install, no account to make, and they work on a school Chromebook.

These games are not flat sprites on a 2D canvas. They run in actual 3D, rendered live by WebGL, the same browser technology behind most modern web games, and they load the moment you open the page.

The range here is wide on purpose. Snowball down an alpine slope in Blizzard Peak, drive a night shift through a whole city in Fare City, or switch between driving, climbing and swimming at every gate in Transform Race. Trail Blitz adds a forest bike circuit where a clean drift pays you back in speed. Three more come from outside the studio: Sketchbook hands you a small island and a car, a boat and an aeroplane with nowhere in particular to be, Poly Racer is a sunny toy-car track with real suspension under it, and Propeller Pilot flies a little red plane through a sky built entirely out of boxes.

Two of the newest are the furthest apart. Gatecrash is a siege fought one soldier at a time: you fire your muster up a single lane and every banner you walk them under multiplies them, so the question is which banner is worth feeding before the garrison reaches you. One Cut is the opposite of a crowd — one duellist, five opponents, and a blade drawn on the high, middle or low line that you have a few hundred milliseconds to answer.

Questions

Are these really 3D or just 2D with perspective?
Really 3D - geometry transformed and lit on your graphics card through WebGL, several million times a second. None of it is video or a 2D trick.
Do 3D browser games need a download?
No. That era ended with Flash and Unity Web Player. These are ordinary web pages with nothing to install and no account.
Will they run on a school laptop or Chromebook?
Yes. They assume integrated graphics rather than a dedicated card. Nothing here needs a download, an installer, a browser plugin, an account or a chat feature, and those are the usual reasons a games site is on a filter list. Whether your particular network lets it through is its decision - a filter is somebody else’s allowlist and no site can honestly promise around one.
Which is the most impressive to look at?
Fare City keeps a whole drivable city in memory with weight transfer under the cab, and Gatecrash puts hundreds of animated characters on screen in one draw call.
